Bluewaves Swim School – Logo, Website and Stationary!

12 Apr 2011 No Comments

I’ve been itching to show you all this! Introducing the new website for Blue Waves Swim School (and logo and stationary). I’m just so in love with the logo and well, pretty much all of it. Take a looks *squeal* Blue Waves Webpage That’s Jo’s Daughter on the left, my very own Mr Chaos in the middle and One of the trouble monsters with teacher (and my sister) Jess on the right. Honestly, if you are looking at getting  your children swimming lessons and in driving distance of Manakau then you CAN’T go wrong with enrolling your child here. Captain Chaos has been having swimming lessons with Jo since he was 6 months old, and first started swimming solo when he was just three years old. He might be taking  a break while he adjusts to school, but he is joining Judy again for the first week of the holiday intensives. Here is the logo (which I said before but will say again I LOVE) I just hope Jo loves it as much as me ;-) Blue waves Logo The following is an overview of the development, believe me when I tell you I went down a few false paths before inspriatoin stuck. The first logo in this series is original logo (As this was a revamp). Blue Waves Logo Development And of course no design would be complete without a little stationary (in my books anyhow) Blue Waves Stationary But wait, there’s more! Certificates! Blue Waves Swimming Certificates No facebook at this time, but don’t worry I’m working on it. I’ll let you know when Jo sets one up.

Onesie Bummsie – Logo Development

07 Feb 2010 1 Comment

Onesie Bummsie Logo Onesie Bummsie is a small business run by entrepreneur Jess, who has come up with, what is in my opinion, a fantastic and invaluable product and invaluable to any parent who like myself use cloth nappies. The concept is actually very simple but works so well. A Onesie Bummsie is an extender that snaps in between the legs to get that extra mileage out your babies Bodysuit or Onesie. Often (and I have found this myself) cloth nappies mean that onesies or body suits don’t fit over them, and even if you are using disposables babies grow sooo fast its hard to keep up with them! This is a little demo.

Onesie Bummsie How to use

Instructions on how to use your Onesie Bummsie

In the words of ‘Onesie Bummie‘, its ‘The little extender that goes a long way’ I set to designing Onesie Bummsie a logo keeping in mind a score of things. Including keeping it playful, childlike and cute while conveying to the the consumer what Onesie Bummsie is for and about. Like I do when start out designing anything I first grab out my ever present sketch pad and followed my creative nose by drawing out a couple of ideas that end up crowding my brain. Running parallel to this I also set about doing some research on the business, noting down ideas and directions my design may follow.

And the stationary was soon to follow.

I was lucky with this one I think. The idea manifested itself inside my head and I chased it to a satisfying completion. Once when I was much younger I met the composer Howard Blake who wrote both music and lyrics for the movie ‘The Snowman’ and he told me that if a piece of music didn’t come to fruition within several days then he would abandon it as it was never meant to be. I feel much the same way about my design work.
